From fixing a flat tyre to understanding your rights as a renter, this series is all about practical knowledge, shared in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Automotive Maintenance:

Changing a tyre might not sound exciting — until you realise how empowering it is to know you won’t be stranded if your car breaks down. This session got rangatahi under the hood and hands-on with the basics of car care: checking oil and water levels, tyre pressure, jump-starting a car, and general maintenance tips every young driver should know.

Cooking on a Budget with SuperGrans:

With the legendary SuperGrans at the helm, this kai session was about more than just recipes — it was a crash course in feeding yourself well on a budget. Rangatahi learned to plan low-cost, nutritious meals, avoid food waste, and make the most of everyday ingredients. As always, the best part was sharing a meal together afterwards.

Renting and Property with Dexter:

This session was a deep dive into both renting and real estate. Dexter, a local property investor with a heart for community education, walked rangatahi through the basics of renting: understanding tenancy agreements, knowing your rights and responsibilities, how bonds work, and what to look out for. Then he introduced the concept of property investing — helping young people dream big and understand how to get onto the housing ladder when they’re ready.

From car tools to tenancy law, Adulting 101 is about building confidence, agency, and self-belief in a world that doesn’t always make things easy. Every session is co-designed with rangatahi and delivered by people who keep it real — no jargon, no lectures, just skills for life.
